Birmingham boss Alex McLeish is lining up a shock move for veteran West Brom striker Kevin Phillips.

The out-of-contract former England international has failed to agree a new two-year deal at the Hawthorns.

That has alerted McLeish who is aiming to boost his strikeforce for next season's promotion push.

Phillips, who scored 24 goals for promoted Albion last season, is keen to test himself again in the top flight.

But Albion have only offered him a one-year deal.
